Chapter 2: Fireworks

With Amy
"Geez, What time is it?" she checked her cell phone "Only eight? But it's so dark out.." she sighed. It was kind of lonley being by herself. She gobbled another piece from her 3rd cotton candy.

She walked over to the trash can for the third time and threw out her cardboard wrapped stick.
Amy walked back to the cotton candy stand and asked for the same thing, a pink fluffy ball of cotton candy.
She fished in her pocket for any more money but was surprised that she used it all up.
"More cotton candy miss?" the gofer man smiled "That'll be 3 dollars if you please." as he gather up strands of pink, luscious, cotton candy.

"H-hold on a minute." she stuttered patting around her pockets. Her wallet did'nt have any money and her pockets did'nt either. Only her cellphone.
"I-I seem to have run out of money." Amy laughed Nervously.
"What? No money?" asked the russian accented gofer "No money, no candy."

Amy frowned. She was really looking forward to eating her cotton candy while watching the fireworks. A she walked away a hooded hedgehog wearing sunglasses bumped in.
"I'll pay for hers." he said. Amy was surprised. Who is this gentleman?

"Okay. 4 dollars." the Russian gofer smiled. "But I thought you said it was 3?" Amy looked at him confused.
"Nope, it four now. Take it and go."
"Alright here." The hooded hedgeog fished his wallet and paid casually for two cotton candys, and handed it to her.

"Th-thank you." Amy blushed. She nervously took a peice and gobbled it down.
"Is it good?" he smiled. Amy nodded. "Th-thank you. I'm Amy."
"I'm, uhm." she waited for him to say is name. He leaned in and whispered in her ear

"Shadow the Hedgehog."
Amy gasped. THE Shado the ULTIMAE HEDGEHOG? Paying for HER cotton candy? This was... such a surprise. She didn't know wha else to say but
"I'm Amy Rose, It's nice to meet you. Shadow." she smiled and gobbled down another peice of cotton candy.

With Shadow
Shadow blush. No girl had ever taken him like this before. Not since... Maria.
"N-nice to meet you to." he answered back. As they walked back to her bench spot together, he examined the girl that was beside him. She was humming and admiring the carnival lights. She glanced at the whole scenery with the emotion of 'want' in her eyes.

"Would you like to go on a ride?" Shadow suggested. Amy looked at him and blushed
"N-no! I don't have any money! So.. I cant buy any tickets. Or play games."

"I'll pay for it. I'm a celebrity are'nt I? I have lots of money." he smirked. Amy looked at him in serious and worry.

"Shadow. For today, please don't call yourself a celebtriy."
Shadow was stunned.
"Okay, but why are you suggesting this, Rose?"
"Because when I looked into your eyes when you said the word celebrity, you seemed pained." she told him. Not a stutter.

"R-rose." he blushed. That was'nt the case at all, he was only think about Maria. But if she says so then I guess its alright for him. Just this one time.

"Alright. But I can't take off my hood no matter what. I don't want my death to be drowing in a pool of scary gothic emo slutty girls." he said bluntly. Amy giggled
"But I thought you liked that kind of stuff?"
"I was only joking when I mentioned it on MTV. I didn't think they ALWAYS took me seriously for my personality. Do I really look that miserable?" he crossed his arms. Amy coninued on giggling. She patted his head and looked at him straight in the eye
"Maybe a little bit." she smiled brightly.

With Amy
Shadow stood up from the bench and grabbed Amys hand.
"Come on, let's go on that horse pole ride." he dragged her, with his hood still on "It's called a merry go round, Shadow." Amy giggled. "Your so funny, have you never been to a carnival before?' she asked. Shadow didn't answer.

Amy was begining to think different of this particulary hedgehog. Even though he was famous she didn't expect him be this enthusiatic and bubbly about things. He could have a bunch of beautiful at his feet by now with just a touch of a button but instead he rather goes to the carnival and go on some rides and play games with a random pink hedgehog he bumped into on the beach during a carnival.

They stopped by the ticket booth, still holding hands, and sped off to the merry-go-round.
"Geez, why is it taking so long." Shadow tapped his foot.
"You have to be patient Shadow. Hav'nt you ever been on a line up before?' Amy asked.
"No because I'm-" he paused for a moment to correct himself "I WAS this special boy who didn't do such a foolish, irritating thing." he snoffed his head to the other side in embarrasment. Amy giggled. Shadow was pretty cute.

Amy examined around the carnival and started to hum again.


With Shadow
Shadow looked at the pink hedgehog curiously. Why does she keep humming? And what toon? It sounds pretty catchy but what could she be singing about?

"Alright! You two are next!" said an english beaver man. Amy walked up the metal stairs and Shadow followed. They sat down themselves down on a horse, both on the same seat.

As the ride started a smile across Amy's face widened. Shadow could'nt help but smile too. To be honest, this was his first time that he ever rode such a device. His first ever going to a carnival. The feeling on going on this ride gave him butterflies.
They spun and spun around and around. Colorful carnival lights were flashing everywhere as they hung on to the swirly pole. It felt Absoloutly brilliant. Wonderful. Nothing can compare this feeling on your first ride, not even disneyland.
Shadow wrapped onto the petite pink Hedgehogs waist and cuddled his chin on her shoulder as she held on to the pole.
"WEEEE! HAHAHA!" She smiled. As did he.

As the ride slowly came into a stop Shadow frowned.
"Thats it?"
"Yup! Thats it!" Amy hopped off. She realized that Shadow was holding her waist.
"Sh-shadow. Waist. Hands. Holding." she blushed.
"Huh? Oh! S-sorry."



With Shadow
As they walked around the carnival he told Amy to stay and wait by the nearby tree. She stared into his eyes with curiosity but agreed to this weird act.

He snuck behind a the little prize wall and grabbed her a big teddybear. About half the size of him.

He ran back and handed the fluffy man-sized thing. Amy gasped and grabbed and hugged it with all her might.
She was laughing because he did was so silly and wrong. She held onto that teddybear all night long.

As the walked around the carnival some more, she kept humming on the same tune. Shadow didn't bother asking this time. They took a seat by a grassy open wide cliff with the view of the beach and the carnival. They sat next to eachother talking about life.

And for that brief moment, they were happy. Truly Happy.


"All I see his fireworks ..." Amy hummed. Shadow raised an eyebrow.
"Is that the song you have been humming to yourself all night?" he asked her.
"Yes. I actually..thought it up while I was admiring the pretty and colorful flashing lights. It reminded me of fireworks." she continued humming.

"Every night is fireworks." she whispered.
Shadow laughed "that does'nt even make sense."

"Yes but, when you make something thats yours don't you put your heart and soul into it? No matter how strange it is? Like paintings."
"Paintings?" he repeated curiously "what of it?"
"Abstract paintings. They're strange and obstacle looking but the artist who made them put theyre heart and emotion into it. And after a while of paid off work it turned out to be a well-known world historic picture."
Shadow was stunned. No one had put hard work into that way before. He always just thought hard work was made out of slavery and sweat.

"All I see are fireworks. Everynight is fireworks." she whispered.

Money just changed everything

My fifteen minutes started an hour ago

"Now what are YOU saying?" Amy giggled.
"I dont know. Anything of how I feel. Just like abstract." he gazed into the sky.
"That sounds like rapping."
"Yeah, rapping I guess. Nothing hardcore." he shrugged as he inched closer.


"Truth over fame, you know I respect the blatant shit
When I hear 'em talkin'
I just don't know what to make of it
Hate is so familiar to me
I'm slowly embracing it
Doesn't come natural
Bear wit' me it could take a bit

Amy leaned onto his shoulder. They jumped at the loud booming sound. There stared into the sky and a sprinkle of fireoworks appeared.

Shadow continued
"Yeah, this life is somethin' I would die for
October's Own, but it's lookin' like July 4
I just wish they'd let you try it first
This time I'm really goin' off, fireworks "

then started singing softly while playing with Amy's long beautiful, soft hair.
today it begins
"I've missed them before, but won't miss them again
I keep having the same dream
And I think that I just realized what it means"

With Amy
Amy sighed and sang along saying what she also had felt.

"All I see is fireworks

Shadow was surprised.

Shadow smiled and continued whisper-rapping.

With Shadow

"I'm just such a gentleman you should give it up for me
Look at how I'm placing all my napkins and my cutlery
I could tell it wasn't love I just thought you'd fuck with me
Who coulda predicted Lucky Strike would have you stuck with me
Damn I kept my wits about me luckily .."

Amy played with his warm soft hands and entwined them with his.

"What happened between us that night it always seems to trouble me
Now all of a sudden these gossip brags wanna cover me
And you makin' it seem that it happened that way because of me
But I was curious and I'll never forget it baby
What an experience you coulda been the one but it wasn't that serious ..."

Shadow smiled as he whispered softly in her ear and saw the reflection of different colors of fireworks enlit her beautiful green eyes. Then began sing softly again.

With Amy

Shadow sang softly into her soft delicate and small ears.

"Oh, today it begins
I've missed them before, but won't miss them again
I keep having the same dream
And I think that I just realized what it means.."

Amy sang along

With Shadow

Shadow began again
"Everything the same but it feels different
My dad called me up knowing that I still listen
And he's still got his foot out, guilt trippin'
It's been years, though, I just learned to deal with it
For real, me and my realtor we built up a better rapport
Got my mother in a place with some better decor
She searched the entire city I let her explore
And now she's sayin' she more lonely than every before .."

Shadow sighed as his past came back to haunt him when he whispered those words into sentences. But for some strange reason and mount of stress had lifted off him. He had this girl which strangely ment the whole world to him and expressed his feelings into such way that for once in his life he felt ... content.
He continued on..

"How many of our parents' marriages lasted?
I was only five, I bet I barely reacted
I'm flyin' back home for the heritage classic
Searchin' for that feelin', tell me where is the magic?
Let's stay together till we're ghosts
I want to witness love, I've never seen it close
Yeah, but I guess I gotta find it first
That's why I'm really goin' off, fireworks .."

With Amy
Amy had never felt like this in a very long time. It's as if all the weight on her heart as lifted and flew away. She smiled as she cuddle in between his long athletic legs. She felt safe in his arms. His arms around his waist has he rested his chin on her shoulder. He began singing in a whisper again...

"today it begins

and she sang along

she finished off.

She turned to face him and blushed.
They were inches away from meeting they're lips. She took of his hood revealing his black and red stripes and removed his sunglasses.
His eyes were a beautiful bright red.

With Shadow
Shadow was blushing. He never felt this way a long time. They were inches away from kissing and as they leaned in and closed they're eyes
his cellphone rang.

BZZZZZ.
"Shit." he cursed.
